Event Description

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is a financial intelligence and enforcement agency of the U.S. Treasury Department. OFAC administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions in support of U.S. national security and foreign policy objectives. OFAC regulations can be difficult to understand and penalties for violating them can be severe. This class will explain what you need to be aware of and how to avoid issues.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations class is open to all members of the University community (faculty, researchers, staff, and students) and will provide an overview of the OFAC regulations and how they apply to activities at Princeton University.


Topics include:

  • Traveling to sanctioned countries
  • Working with entities/individuals that have been debarred by the US government
  • Activities involving entities/individuals in sanctioned countries
  • Monetary transactions involving sanctioned countries
  • OFAC export license application process
