ORPA Welcomes Aaron Collie, Research Data Security Manager

ORPA is excited to welcome Aaron Collie, Research Data Security Manager, to the Research Security group of the Office of Research and Project Administration. Aaron officially begins on Monday, October 23, 2023, and will be responsible for developing, managing, communicating, and ensuring a coordinated approach to University-wide policies and procedures regarding sensitive and restricted data sets.

Aaron has over 12 years of experience leading organizations in the development of data and information management capabilities. Prior to joining Princeton, Aaron served as the Manager for Privacy Engineering at the University of Illinois where he led university-wide training and outreach on privacy-enhancing technology, advocated for privacy by design (PbD) development patterns and the established foundational privacy engineering policy and controls.

Previously, Aaron worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis where he was responsible for managing the national support office for a historical data preservation enclave, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-137 and NIST 800-53, and at Michigan State University where he co-founded and led the cross-campus Research Data Management Guidance service. Aaron holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with a specialization in Data Curation Education.
