ORPA/SRA Issue Guidance Memo to Faculty Regarding Programmatic and Financial Risk Mitigation Due to COVID-19 Crisis

June 8, 2020

On June 5th, Elizabeth Adams, Director of the Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA), and Glynis Sherard, Associate Controller and Director of Sponsored Research Accounting (SRA), released a memo to principal investigators to provide guidance for programmatic and risk mitigation for sponsored research projects impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.  It was strongly recommended that principal investigators use progress reports as the mechanism for documenting the impact (cost and timeline) the public health crisis had on their sponsored projects.  This communication with sponsors may later serve as appropriate documentation of the need for supplemental funding and in audits.  Please review the memo for further information.
