PIER Plan Requirement

On March 11, 2025, The Office of Science released the below update regarding PIER plans entitled, “Rescission of Notice of Suspension of DEI, CBP/PIER Plans and Justice 40 Related Activities Under Financial Assistance Awards.”

The Office of Science is immediately ending the requirement for Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research (PIER) Plans in any proposal submitted to the Office of Science. [1/28/2025]

Research Security Training Requirements

Current & Pending Disclosures

The DOE requires that all proposal submissions include a full disclosure of current and pending support from any source for principal investigators (PI) and senior/key personnel, including subawardees, as an appendix to the project narrative. 

  • Paid or unpaid
  • Provided as a gift with or without terms or conditions
  • Full-time, part-time, voluntary
  • Faculty, visiting, adjunct or honorary
  • Cash or in-kind
  • Foreign or domestic
  • Government or private sector
  • Directly or indirectly supporting an individual's research - whether supporting students, research staff, space, equipment or other research expenses
